Keystone has worked with South Devon College since 2003 and prepared the in-principle and detailed funding applications for the relocation of the main College campus from a town centre site in Torquay to a site at Paignton.
Phase one comprised the remodelling and refurbishment of an existing building (Vantage Point) and the construction of two new workshop buildings on an adjacent site. Phase two of the College’s new campus development was the construction of a University Centre on the site adjacent to the main campus. The College’s 2,300sq m, £8m University Centre, opened officially in 2011, provides its university students with an outstanding learning environment. It is a showcase for higher-level skills provision across the region.
It is fully equipped with current technologies and is Wi-Fi enabled across the building, allowing for easy Internet access everywhere. As well as the teaching facilities, there is a Research Centre and an Ideas Lab for links with local businesses.
Originally part of a larger project, the University Centre was complex in funding terms, including HEFCE, RDA and LSC funding support. Keystone supported the funding application process and prepared and monitored the programme to ensure that the funding strands came together to enable the project to go ahead.
