Wiltshire College is implementing a phased redevelopment of its existing campus at Trowbridge. Keystone prepared the expression of interest and detailed funding application (Enhanced Renewal Grant Phase 2) for a part new build, part refurbishment project comprising a new build one- and two-storey lightweight link between two buildings. This provided a new main entrance and reception facility encompassing student services and enrolment facilities; remodelling of the area adjacent to the new link to provide a new Learning Resource Centre; relocation of Performing Arts; relocation and expansion of existing workshops.
For Phase 1, worth £2.5m, Keystone prepared the funding applications, procured the design team and provided project management services up to commencement of construction, including planning and contractor procurement. The project was completed in April 2013.
Phase 2 comprises a 2,300sq m new build construction skills centre to replace two existing workshops dating back to the 1950s. The building will include plumbing, brickwork, wood occupations and electrotechnical workshops as well as a gas assessment centre and general and IT teaching rooms.
Keystone prepared the expression of interest and detailed funding application for Enhanced Renewal Grant Phase 3 funding support, procured the design team and provided project management services up to commencement of construction. The project is currently under construction and is due to be completed by September 2014.
Keystone has worked with Wiltshire College since 2007, when we prepared their Property Strategy. We acted as lead adviser in the development of preferred options for redevelopment of their main centres and subsequently updated their property strategy in 2012. We have led the preparation of funding applications for the redevelopment of the Trowbridge centre, working with the college and design team to develop proposals to tight timescales in order to secure much needed funding support to renew and revitalise their busiest centre.
